Do you make all the pottery?

All the pottery is handmade at Handknitted Pottery, most of it by Hugh, and the rest is made by Hugh's assistant Matt. Most of it is thrown on a potter's wheel, and there are a few handbuilt items. The designs are added as part of the glazing process or after glazing as ceramic decals.

Does pottery survive being sent in the post?

Yes. In the unlikely event of a pot arriving damaged I will send a replacement or offer a full refund, whichever you prefer. However, I pack the pottery in such a way that it is unlikely to be damaged.

Is the item in the picture the actual one I will receive?

In some cases, yes. In this case the listing will state 'The photos show the actual item you will receive'.

In most cases the photos will show an item from a range - it's not practical to photograph each item individually - so the piece you receive will be very similar but of course will have minor variations. If you are concerned about this contact me and I can send a photo before you order.

Are the glazes safe for food use?

Yes, all glazes used are leadless and all the pottery on the website is safe to eat off, unless otherwise stated.

Are the pots dishwasher-safe?

Yes!

What about microwaves?

Most of the pottery will be fine in microwaves with turntables which avoid hotspots. We recommend avoiding microwaves that do not have turntables.

The oatmeal and pistachio glazes are not suitable for use in a microwave. If in doubt please ask about this.

Can I return an item bought by post if I change my mind?

Yes. If for any reason you don't want to keep your pottery you can return it within fourteen days to me for a full refund of the purchase price and outward postage. If there's no actual fault you pay the return postage.

I need my pottery urgently, can you send it first class or for next-day delivery?

Yes. Just contact me before putting in your order and I will let you know how much extra this will cost. If the extra cost is acceptable to you, you can then place the order and I will let you know how to pay the difference.

Do you send pottery overseas?

Yes. In the same way as if you need faster delivery, just contact me and I will give you a quote for overseas delivery. Pease note, you will be responsible for any customs charges, import duty or other taxes that are applicable.
